Richardson Electronics Introduces Selection of Wideband Attenuators from IDT

Glitch-Free™ digital step attenuators and voltage variable RF attenuators

LaFox, IL, Monday, April 4, 2016 – Richardson Electronics, Ltd. (NASDAQ: RELL) announced today the availability of a selection of wideband attenuators from Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDT).

The F1912, F1950, F1951, F1953 and F1956 are part of IDT’s family of Glitch-Free™ digital step attenuators optimized for the demanding requirements of base station radio cards and communications infrastructure applications. The silicon design results in very low insertion loss, low distortion and the devices offer pinpoint accuracy with excellent ESD protection. IDT’s Glitch-Free™ technology results in low overshoot and minimal ringing during MSB transitions.

These DSAs are offered in compact 4 mm x 4 mm QFN packages with 50Ω impedances for ease-of-integration.

According to IDT, additional key features of these Glitch-Free DSAs include:

Part Number Bits Attenuation Step
(dB)
Frequency Range
(MHz)
Supply Voltage (V) Pins IIP3
(dBm)
Attenuation Error Insertion Loss
F1912 6 0.5 1–4000 3–5.25 20 +60 < 0.22 dB @ 2 GHz < 1.6 dB @ 2 GHz
F1950 7 0.25 150–4000 3–5.25 24 +65 < 0.3 dB @ 2 GHz < 1.3 dB @ 2 GHz
F1951 6 0.5 100–4000 3–5.25 24 +65 < 0.2 dB @ 2 GHz < 1.2 dB @ 2 GHz
F19531 6 0.5 400–4000 2.7–3.3 20 +60 < 0.5 dB @ 2 GHz < 1.4 dB @ 2 GHz
F1956 7 0.25 1–4000 3–5.25 32 +64 < ±0.2 dB @ 4 GHz < 1.7 dB @ 4 GHz

(1) The F1953 includes integrated DC blocking capacitors.

The F2250, F2255 and F2258 are low insertion loss, voltage variable RF attenuators designed for a variety of wireless and other RF applications. With broad frequency ranges, the devices also provide excellent linearity performance over the entire voltage control and attenuation range. These VVAs also feature a VMODE pin that allows either positive or negative voltage control slope vs. attenuation, and multi-directional operation, which means that the RF input can be applied to either RF1 or RF2 pins.

These VVAs are offered in 3 mm x 3 mm, 16-pin QFN (F2250 and F2255) and TQFN (F2258) packages.

According to IDT, additional key features of these VVAs include:

Part Number Frequency Range
