Generator Start Module Solution for Wireless Telecom Industry

LaFox, IL, May 4th, 2021– Richardson Electronics, Ltd. (NASDAQ: RELL) announced today an exclusive manufacturing and global distribution agreement with Battery Street Energy (BSE) to manufacture ultracapacitor-based engine start modules for use in various markets and applications including the wireless telecom industry and in critical facilities. In collaboration with BSE, Richardson Electronics will be manufacturing these modules using BSE’s patent-pending technology in its 250,000 square foot facility located in LaFox, Illinois.

These new ultracapacitor generator start modules are an eco-friendly drop-in replacement for hazardous lead-acid batteries used in backup generators and related equipment.  The ultracapacitors provide a larger operating temperature range, predictable end-of-life, and with over one million charge/discharge cycles, will outlast conventional lead-acid batteries by up to 18 years. This reduces downtime for applications where power requirements are critical.

Richardson Electronics, Ltd. Announces Availability of New Cryogenic Components from Quantum Microwave

LaFox, IL, April 14, 2021– Richardson Electronics, Ltd. (NASDAQ: RELL) announced today they are now offering two of Quantum Microwave’s newest components, a cryogenic bias tee and a cryogenic choke, both of which operate over a frequency range of 3 MHz to 10 GHz.

With a low insertion loss of 1dB, the QMC-CRYOTEE-0010 cryogenic bias tee has a minimum DC port impedance of 10kohms and a max voltage of +/- 20VDC. The QMC-CRYOCHOKE-0010 cryogenic RF choke has a choke path of DC- 500 kHz and a typical RF return loss of better than -15dB. Both parts are designed to operate at temperatures as low as 10 mK.

Quantum Microwave’s range of cryogenic microwave components support the newly emerging quantum computing market. These products are manufactured with OFHC Copper, allowing for the best thermal conductivity and the absolute smallest size. Inside the housings, Quantum Microwave uses special materials to operate with great electrical and thermal performance.

Richardson Electronics, Ltd. Expands Support for EV Wireless Charging Solutions with Celem’s HTC Series of High Temperature Capacitors

LaFox, IL, February 19, 2021– Richardson Electronics, Ltd. (NASDAQ: RELL) announced today its ability to provide improved support for Electric Vehicle (EV) Wireless Charging solutions with Celem’s HTC series of high temperature capacitors.

With over 50 years of experience, excellence, and expertise in manufacturing specialized capacitors, Celem’s HTC series of high temperature capacitors is an excellent solution for EV and other applications where water-cooling is not an option.

Unlike ceramic capacitors, Celem’s HTC series of capacitors are designed to better withstand vibration,  have a smaller footprint, and require less labor to install, making them more reliable and economical. These capacitors use high quality, high-temperature film, giving them higher power per volume and greater flexibility for customized solutions required for EV applications.

All four modules have been qualified via the JEDEC standard reliability test and come in a SOT-227 package. Samples provided globally upon request.

With over 20M hours of testing, GEN3 is designed and built for reliability and ruggedness with high breakdown voltage and high surge current rating. SemiQ’s third-generation SiC modules are available in 650V/1200V, 50A/100A configurations and are suited for applications including but not limited to:
